About the Owners
Louisiana Cajun Stuff is a family-run business created by Dale and Pat Guidry. Our family began in 1965, when Dale and Pat were married. Shortly thereafter, in 1966, I was born, Gary, their first son. Not long after I was born, my brother Greg came along in 1968. Our family ancestry dates back to the 18th century when the Cajuns were exiled from Nova Scotia and settled here in Southern Louisiana.
In the 1960ís and 70ís, my father worked, as many Cajun men did, with his father Shrimping in the Gulf of Mexico. Then, with the expansion of the oil field, my father began a career as a Tug Boat Captain where he remained until the mid-1980ís. During this time, my mother cultivated her creative talents into a business selling handmade Cajun Art. With the demand for her unique products growing, my father joined her making the business grow rapidly. After touring the country with their unique Cajun Products, my mother and father decided it was time to focus their energy on more of a local level.
In 1999, Louisiana Cajun Stuff was created. Again, with this business growing very rapidly, and requests by out of town and out of country visitors, my father decided that we should place Louisiana Cajun Stuff on the World Wide Web.
My mother and father now live in Houma, LA, close to the store. They relocated from Cut Off after my brother and I moved away. The neighborhood we grew up in is composed mostly of extended family, this is very unique to the close-knit Cajun families.
Our family has grown over the years. In 1990, I married Sandy . We have two children, Kathleen born in 1995 and Conner born in 1998. In 1997, Greg married Traci. They have two sons, Landon born in 1998 and Logan born in 2001.
